Food As Medicine
Over the course of our life our body will spend more energy digesting food than it will spend energy doing anything else. When you look at the four horseman of chronic disease which are heart disease, metabolic syndrome, cancer, and neurodegenerative disease it's hard to not trace them all back to what we eat at some capacity. So now comes the question of, "Well how can I know whether or not what I am eating is healthy?" and that's where the idea of eating plants and animals in the form of whole foods comes into the equation.
It just doesn't make sense to me to eat all these ultra processed protein and energy bars that are advertised to only have 5 grams of net carbs but leave you feeling hungry and needing more to eat an hour later. These types of eating habits are a recipe for disaster, just constantly snacking is not a good idea and wears our body out metabolically.
